What is a Certified Chiropractic Orthopedist?

Board certified chiropractic orthopedists are doctors of chiropractic that have completed extensive postdoctoral education in non-surgical orthopedic care. They have also passed rigorous specialty Board examinations leading to Diplomat status. Less than 2% of chiropractors attain this status.

To become Board certified, the specialist is required to demonstrate advanced proficiency in the evaluation and non-operative management of a broad range of injuries, conditions, and disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system with particular emphasis on the spine and extremities.

Chiropractic Orthopedists are Doctors of Orthopedic care who can be licensed in all 50 states, Canada and many other countries of the world. These orthopedists have extensive, specialized training in examination and treatment procedures emphasizing primarily the neuromusculoskeletal structures of the body including the spine and extremity joints, and related soft tissue structures. This involves conditions affecting bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and related nerve structures.

A doctor successfully completing a rigorous examination process by a chiropractic orthopedic certifying body is a Certified Chiropractic Orthopedist and eligible to become a fellow of the academy.
